It is now one of the most rapidly growing and popular areas in North Carolina. Lake Norman is home to great shopping, restaurants and  more. Mooresville, North Carolina Race City Motor Speedway Known for its abundance of racing shops, Mooresville´s nickname is "Race City USA." With just over 20,000 residents, Mooresville is the sixth-fastest-growing municipality in North Carolina.  Davidson, North Carolina Take a walk down Main Street of this small, college town and you´ll forget that metropolitan Charlotte is just minutes away. Resisting the surge in development that characterizes nearby cities, Davidson maintains its small-town qualities while enjoying the amenities of the burgeoning Lake Norman area. Huntersville, North Carolina Huntersville, is the first Lake Norman town north of Charlotte.  Even before Huntersville was established as a municipality and named for one of its founding fathers, steam engines carried passengers on rails that still run parallel to N.C. 115. Farmers grew cotton on their large plantations and prominent schools attracted families from near and far. It´s the sense of Huntersville´s past that has brought so many new residents to this town. The allure of the remaining farmland, the simple commute into the city of Charlotte and the proximity to the relatively new Lake Norman are just some of Huntersville´s enticements.  Charlotte, North Carolina Everything in Charlotte is done on a grand scale. The area is home to Lowe´s Motor Speedway, the largest sports facility in the Southeast and the "Mecca of Motorsports," as NASCAR enthusiasts call it. The area´s largest higher-education institution, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, is located here in the cradle of highways 49 and 29. At 20,000 students and counting, it´s the fastest-growing university in the state system. In addition, some of the area´s largest employers make University Research Park their corporate campus.
